Have you ever opened the perfect gift?
Have you ever tingled with excitement and felt your heart leap with joy to open a perfect something?
Have you ever cried because you got something so unexpected before?
Today I did.
It was glorious.
And unexpected.
And spectacular.
And so perfect.
I love to read. I mean, I REALLY love to read (probably not as much as my friend Cathi who could seriously open up a library with the amount of books she owns, but still.) I adore books.
So I almost stopped breathing when I opened up the box from Amazon and saw three packages inside. One was wrapped, one was in a cardboard box, and one was in its original packaging showcasing a beautiful painting by Vincent Van Gogh.
It was a Kindle.
Did you read that?!
A KINDLE!
And it came with a book light.
And a protective skin which was the Van Gogh print.
Oh my goodness.
OH MY GOODNESS!
I stood there for 20 minutes putting on the skin, charging it up, browsing books on it and in short, loving it.
It is wonderful.
Thank you Mom and Dad; you are too much!

Now excuse me, I must go and devour a book or two. :-)

Yes, you'll have to report on whether you like it. I like being able to keep lots of books in a small space, but it seems very not-cozy.

I just opened the most perfect gift but it wasn't for me, it was for Allison. My friend Clare sent Christmas presents for the girls and it was a Melissa and Doug birthday cake. I don't know how Clare knew to get this for her but this is absolutely perfect for Allison. She is OBSESSED with birthdays right now and pretends that everything in the world is a birthday cake that she is baking and decorating. This gift couldn't be more perfect.
