In The Works

He was born at 2:54 in the morning before the sun woke up and the birds began to sing. For the first month, he was an early riser- and by early I mean every few hours around the clock wanting sustenance and a warm body to snuggle against. 2 years later, I am about to welcome another small, delicate body to our family fold but not before we celebrate the life of his/her older sibling; my first little baby, Peyton Chandler.

His actual birthday is on March 2nd, a Monday this year and since he is happiest in the morning {I presume from his early morning arrival into this world} I've decided to move back his birthday celebrations to February 28th so he can enjoy his day. I've just started to get into full birthday planning mode even though it will be a quiet party- no extended family and only his friend Shelby will {hopefully!} be present {with Aidan and Jeremy of course!}. So you might wonder why I would go to any extra lengths since Peyton isn't aware that the day is any different from yesterday or the next.

I am a celebrator- I ♥{love}♥ to celebrate life and Peyton's party is no different. It was hard not to celebrate Christmas or our anniversary last year and luckily we pulled off something last minute with Aidan and Jeremy for New Years or we would probably have done nothing for that day too. Now that we are settled in, I've been itching to decorate and have fun again and this is the perfect opportunity!

I commissioned someone to make the 'Happy Birthday' banner you see at the top of this post and I am tickled by the results. It might be a little hard to make out, but I asked Cortney {the artist} for vibrant colors to match Peyton's vibrant personality. I had tossed around several ideas for his {small} party- including doing a 'lions and tigers and bears' theme and going to the Zoo but the weather here has been so haywire that I'm not sure that we wouldn't need parka's the day of the party! So I'm still not sure of what activity {if any} I'll do yet, but I am sure of one thing... it's going to be a breakfast party!

Troy makes dynamite pancakes {which Peyton and I adore} but what we REALLY make well together is french toast. Seriously, it's amazing. I've decided to have a full spread- cinnamon french toast, thick cut bacon & maple sausage, salt and peppered scrambled eggs, fresh fruit kabobs with orange juice and creamy milk at the stand-by in chilled glass pitchers. Is there nothing more glorious than a breakfast feast fit for a King {or his Prince}?

We will be working hard this weekend to restore our computer to it's former state- hopefully in time to show pictures of Peyton's big birthday {it's his golden birthday you know!}

Not only that, but I have so many other pictures to post and show you- it's amazing how backlogged you can get over a few weeks. So stay tuned in!

Lexi, I wish we lived closer b/c I bet you throw fabulous b.day parties. Oh, and IMO, it is NEVER too early to start to plan a party. Thoughts of Mickey Mouse and Wii Bowling float through my head often, as do the many, many ideas of what I could do for baby Ethan's first b.day party.
Have fun...who cares if he can't remember? You will, and you will have pictures for him to "create" those memories later on.

Oh, it sounds like you are going to have a lovely celebration for him! The sign looks amazing! Good luck with all the computer stuff...they are just so frustrating at times, but what would we do without them?

OK, have you considered charging people for your party planning expertise? I totally lack in that area and you amaze me! That banner looks AWESOME, I love it and love that color combo. Way to go! Sounds like a fun party, a great way to celebrate life.

PS, how do you get those cute little hearts in your text? I *heart* them. lol
