Road Trip!

Last Wednesday Morning, we decided enough was enough. We were tired of being stuck indoors. We were tired of mindless television. We were tired of slow paced reading. We were tired of all of our toys. In short, we were tired of everything but complaining about being tired. So we decided it was time for a road trip!
We loaded everyone up, packed a million diapers, a million and one outfits (because statistics and bad past experiences have confirmed that one diaper will fail and you will need an extra outfit), a hundred bottles of baby food, a dozen toys and a handful of books and crossed our fingers for the best and headed for our old home, Party City, A.K.A. New Orleans.
To my surprise the babies lasted much longer than I expected before they were exhausted and tired of (you guessed it) the truck. (I believe that if you round to the nearest minute it was about 10 minutes in to the trip). I guess at age 3 and nearly age 1, your attention and patience threshhold is basically nill. Poor Chloe cried 6 out of the 8 hours, nearly non-stop.
At one point, Peyton unbuckled himself, we had to stop for a diaper emergency for Chloe (I told you that extra outfit would come in handy) and make one more pitstop for lunch (which Peyton deemed unnecessary and therefore refused to eat) before we could continue without stopping.

But finally, FINALLY, they fell asleep. Not at the same time (of course), but sleep they did!
Thank goodness Troy had everything under control because by hour 5, I was tired of constantly turning around to pick up dropped toys, tossed blankets, slippery sippy cups and handfuls of snacks. As you can tell from the picture, Troy is autopilot mode, which not surprisingly looks like the same mode he falls into during long (for him) shopping excursions.
I will say that the weather was beautiful and there were lots of fields and trees to gaze at.
I was also thankful for this little bit of comic relief:

We passed a truck in Northern Louisiana that was painted in LSU colored stripes {purple and gold} down the side and said, 'Tiger By The Tail' on the back. The love for all things LSU in Louisiana is astronomical. Don't ever mess with a true LSU fan. I mean it- things could get ugly, and fast! :-)

Stay tuned for more about our adventures in N'awlins over the next few days...
