This is Troy's 'baby'. When I asked him what he wanted for snacks and goodies for our Super Bowl party, one of the top things he said he wanted was "...a trophy cake".
Well, I got busy the night before the big game and mixed and baked a chocolate cake for the field and a yellow cake for the trophy and let it cool over night to decorate the next afternoon. I thought I was going to be decorating the cake but Troy had other ideas ;-)
He wouldn't let me near the cake except to do some of the finer details like piping the chocolate frosting on the football and doing all of the lettering {since he doesn't have the most legible handwriting}. Everything else is his artistry. He even mixed the colors himself and drew the lines on the field!
I think it turned out pretty cool- even cooler than last year's cake!
Surprisingly, between Aidan and I, none of us got pictures of the 4 of us {the 'adults' that is} in action at our party this year; but if you want to get a look at our spread and a shot of Shelby and Peyton snacking away, you can visit her blog.
So what do you think? I'm thinking Troy missed his profession as pastry chef and cake decorator! Really though, we both talked about how we both wouldn't have the patience to pipe cakes all day- even my hand was sore from the little bit I did the next day! It sure was fun to see the end product though.

That is a really fun cake. I bet it was super yummy too!!! I am also VERY impressed that Troy did a lot of the handy work. Im not sure if my significant other would have cared. Good team work guys! Oh PS- DO YOU KNOW YET?????? Im dyin' to know!!
Nice cake! You can get flaxseed at whole foods. Try it with mango, or carrot juice...sometimes I'll even just blend the spinach, kale and oj just to mix it up a little. I'm glad everyone likes it. I got it off Melissa thompson's blog a long while ago and fell in love with it.
It looks like you guys are doing well in Texas. we miss you!
