Intricacy

I have gotten lost no less than four times in the past 24 hours. Each time from following the guidance of our GPS unit, TomTom. We have a love/hate relationship, TomTom and I. Every time I come across a kink in my travel plans, I am reminded of 'The Office' episode where Michael and Dwight were using a GPS unit to deliver gift baskets to old clients in the hopes of 'luring' them back to Dunder Mifflin.

The scene where Michael Scott plunges the car into the lake because "...The machine knows where it is going!" is just classic. I haven't ended up in any lakes, but I have done my fair share of back tracking when roads that TomTom says exist are no longer accessible, or when it tells me to turn at the last possible second causing me to miss the turn altogether. But really, I would also be at a loss without it because for every slip up I encounter, there are the hundreds of times it DOES get me there safely without mistakes.

Seeing all of the roads here converge and loop in and around and through each other makes me think of the complicated network we have inside our human bodies. There are so many nerves and veins, blood being sent and delivered throughout various channels and chambers and yet it somehow always knows how to navigate back home to the heart. What a wonder new life is, cells multiplying and dividing, skeletons forming and tissues adhering! I am in awe of all of the tiny intricate details like eyelashes that edge bright and wondering eyes and the small delicate whorls on the finger pads of a brand new precious baby boy or girl.

I think too of how a baby girl is born with all of the eggs she'll ever use; already in place for the day that she too will become a Mother and give life to another. Right now, my little girl is curled up in her warm cocoon, whiling away the time by multiplying and growing, forming and perfecting her tiny frame. I contemplate what she thinks of our voices; Mother and Father and older big Brother- each comprised of different and unique sounds and tones. We can't wait to meet her and to shower her with love and affection and to spoil her in a way only little girls can be. She has already navigated her way into my heart through the shortest possible route; as such, she already appears to have a better sense of direction than I!

I can also tell you right now that Daddy's heart {and his wallet} are going to be in BIG trouble! ;-)

We are so very excited!

Congratulations! We are both going to have girls at the same time! Have fun shopping. I have gone a little "pink" crazy but it has been so fun (and thankfully I have been saving $$ for a really long time for it)! I even got Brian to agree to paint their room pink. I can't wait to see how you decorate your little girls room--Your so good at it that I may have to steal some of your ideas.

Lexi,
We are so excited for you!!! I know it has always been a dream of yours to have a boy and a girl. Now that dream is coming true. You will know no greater joy than watching your daughter grow and become a woman.
Peyton will be a great big brother to his little sister and Troy will be what he has always been - a wonderful, loving, and fun father.
You are and will be a great mother to her as you too are wonderful, loving, fun, and inspiring.
We love you SO much and wish we were there to give you a big squeeze and kisses to tell you how happy we are for you.
Cradle and nurture your baby girl until she is ready to meet her Mimzy and Sir Grandpa!
Love you so very much!!!
Mom and Dad

Congratulations! A baby girl...you know, when I was little, I always thought it would be so cool to have a big brother to look out for me and protect me from all the jerks!
