In case you were wondering, it is neither funny nor cute to approach a woman who has either:
A.) a baby
B.) a toddler
C.) or who is pregnant with a baby and has a toddler in tow
...and tell her that if she thought life was hard right now, it only gets worse. Oh, and that her kids will eat more and that life just gets infinitely harder the older they get.
Not only will she probably think that you must be completely off of your rocker, she will most likely brush that little tidbit off as complete and utter nonsense.
Even if it's true {and lets hope for your sake, it's not} that's just not something you should ever bewilder and terrorize a young mother about. Period.
Neither is it funny nor clever to say, "You must have your hands full!"
OR
"Two years apart? You must be either brave or crazy!"
Yep, still not funny.
Or clever.
Just thought I should tell you to keep that in mind!
Hey, I'm just saving you from yourself here.
Sincerely,
Living-in-the-Moment Self

People with opinions like that can go sit on a stick for all I care. Once, an old man approached my friend who was in the LSU McDonalds, with her toddler daughter, very preggo, and not wearing her wedding ring b/c of swollen fingers and told her she should be ashamed of herself for getting in that "situation" again or something like that. Needless to say, pregnant friend gave him a piece of her married pregnant mind. (Or at least I am 99% sure that is how it went down)
So, tell the person who caused this letter to be penned...go jump of a cliff. Your life is fine. You will be great with two kids and two years apart is GREAT! Much better then nine months apart, and even that is doable.
Don't worry...you will ROCK motherhood with two tiny ones.
I need to write a book on what not to say to a pregnant woman. I feel like a stranger magnet when I'm pregnant, but when the baby comes, all of the attention goes to them, which I don't like b/c I don't want people breathing their germs on my kid. Anyway, I'm with you on this. I've heard it all. One big rule everyone should learn is NEVER ASK A LADY IF SHE'S PREGNANT!! Even if it seems obvious. It could be a tumor. No joke. We have a petite girl in our ward that we all thought was pregnant and didn't dare to ask, but it turned out that she had a football sized tumor in her stomach and had a serious surgery to get it removed. You just never know, people, so back off!!
