Monday, Shmunday

Can you tell it's Monday? It's cleaning day here at the Majoue house and in between scrubbing the kitchen and getting ready to scour the bathrooms, I've decided to 'take a break' {or be lazy for a few minutes} and dink around on the computer for a bit.

We spent this weekend taking some of Peyton's old things to a consignment shop to see if we could trade them for anything. They only wanted about 8 things out of two boxes. Two! I am now $19.50 richer- {or I was until I spent $37 in the same store buying cute Chloƫ things...oh well!}

Then we went out to Ikea, Rooms To Go, and Ashley Home Furniture to look for a bed for the little guy since he will have to give up his crib for his little sister in the very near future.

Question- Why is it that furniture stores seem to carry beds that don't have different stains? We saw a bed at Ashley that was pretty cute {and would make a decent Pottery Barn Kids bed knockoff} but it only came in one color- and of course it was one we weren't crazy about!

Speaking of Pottery Barn Kids- they are seriously expensive! I'm wondering when I'll ever get to the point that paying over $2000 for a kids bedroom set {with a bed, dresser and mattress} is just a drop in the hat. I'm thinking it will be a LONG while :-)

We do really like the Thomas Bed set from Pottery Barn Kids {only with a single bed and not bunk beds} but we really don't like the price!

So for now, we'll probably just start transitioning by getting a mattress, letting Peyton get used to sleeping on that- then getting a frame so he's used to it off of the ground and then when he's well adjusted we'll pick him out a nice bedroom set from somewhere.

When we were done looking around at furniture, we also made a run out to the house to see the finished stone and had a peek inside at the crown molding and the cabinets in the kitchen. Pictures tomorrow!

Not much else to report here. Did you enter my give-a-way yet? Here's what's on the table for one lucky winner:

"A great bracelet for the man or woman who has a passion for Irish Wolfhounds or Ireland in general. This unique bracelet is comprised of leather cord, silver buttons which feature Celtic knots, green wire wrapped stones, and a real Irish coin which features an Irish Wolfhound. The bracelet is designed to wrap around the wrist, and can be worn as a bracelet or necklace by men or women." -taken from DeerHoundJulie's Etsy Shop, Quarry.

I just love this bracelet- it is something so unique and fun. I also love that it can be worn as a necklace if you so choose as well!

"Filled to the to the top of the pint glass with spirited and rousing versions of classic Irish tunes both traditional and contemporary, the Young Dubliners' With All Due Respect feels like a raucous night out with friends. Hastily but immaculately recorded, each cut has an energy that transcends the overall sameness of the production. Like Flogging Molly without the distortion, the Young Dubliners tear through two Pogues tunes ("If I Should Fall from Grace with God" and "Pair of Brown Eyes") and a flurry of pub classics -- including "Foggy Dew" and "Rocky Road to Dublin" -- that are as earthy as they are electrifying. It's a move that should please longtime fans and connoisseurs of Celtic folk-rock alike." -taken from barnesandnoble.com.

This is one of my favorite Celtic Rock bands- I saw them perform at a bar in Alaska {no worries, I was drinking water that night! :-) } and they are thrilling to listen to live and fun to listen to in the car or to jam out to when you're cleaning the house {like I should be doing!}.

"Cary Grant, Robert Redford, Richard Gere, Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams, Nicholas Cage, Prince Charles, Quincy Jones, and Naomi Campbell.

What do all these people have in common? They all wear Green Irish Tweed and this is the closest duplicate to Green Irish Tweed I have ever found.

Green Irish Tweed was originally created for Cary Grant by The House of Creed and this duplicate is A Scentsible World’s star scent for men. It is elegant yet sporty with notes of Mysore sandalwood, ambergris, French verbena, violet leaves and Florentine Iris."

I haven't smelled this yet, but the Irish in the title caught my interest as well as the fact that so many celebrities enjoy this! Whether you gift it to your honey, save it for yourself, or stick it in the guest bath for all to enjoy, I'm sure it will become a quick favorite!

Since you're into Irish bar bands, try Boston's own"Dropkick Murphys" for some soothing music to sip your Guinness to. They're a little too mellow for me but maybe for a hardened Alaska rocker they'd be just the thing!
